BAGUIO CITY – Three tourists are now in jail after being arrested in posession of more than P720-K worth of dried marijuana thru an interdiction operation conducted by joint elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – Ifugao and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit – Ifugao PNP at Tam-an, Banaue, Ifugao on Sunday, March 24, 2019.
PDEA – Cordillera regional director Edgar Apalla identified the arrested personalities as Mike Galunio Montinola, 38, gym instructor and resident of BF Homes, Paranaque City; Erickson Garlitos Estanislao, 40 and resident of BF Manresa, Paranaque City and Michael Mercado Perez, 42 and a resident of Rizal, Nueva Ecija.
Confiscated along with the suspects were eight bundles of dried marijuana wrapped with transparent cellophane and one small piece of dried marijuana also wrapped with transparent cellophane having a total value of P720, 240.
A blue ranger with plate number AAI 7195 that was used by the suspects was impounded under the custody of Banaue Municipal Police Station.
According to Apalla, the operatives received an information from a concerned citizen that a group of individuals transporting a marijuana on board said vehicle coming from Kalinga will be passing along the highway of Ifugao.
He said that the operatives discovered the contrabands inside the car upon visual inspection after they flagged tha said vehicle.
Arrested suspects are now charged for violation of RA 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
