CABARROGUIS, Quirino — In a journey that highlights both resilience and the challenges of rural life, a bedridden father was transported from his remote mountain home to the pay-out center in Dibibi, Cabarroguis, Quirino using a local cart known as a “patuki” or “pasagad” or carabao-drawn cart to claim his financial aid.
The story went viral after Roldan Elacio Pelerio, the son of the beneficiary, shared that the unnamed agency responsible for the payouts showed little interest in providing door-to-door service, despite his father being bedridden. He also noted that the agency appeared indifferent to salaried individuals.
In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo Baguio, Pelerio described the journey as taking roughly one hour, depending on the pace of the carabao pulling the “patuki.” He emphasized that his father was the one riding in the cart throughout the trip.
When asked if the journey could be recorded, Pelerio agreed, saying the video truthfully captured the struggle. He shared the footage in the hope that it might inspire help from anyone who saw it.
Despite the obstacles, his father was reportedly able to successfully receive the payout, turning a difficult journey into a story of perseverance and hope.
