BAGUIO CITY – The Province of Ifugao recorded the highest number of rabies cases in the entire Philippines from January until the first week of March 2019.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Ifugao Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Dionisio Baguidudol said that they have recorded 19 cases of rabies from said period despite massive vaccination in the province last year.
According to him, this is the first time they recorded high case of rabies in Ifugao.
He said that they already asked assistance from nearby provincial veterinary offices in the region.
He also expressed the possibility of rabies outbreak to be declared in Ifugao if the number of rabies cases will still continue to rise.
Baguidudol added that the Ifugao Provincial Veterinary Office now lacks in the supply of anti-rabies vaccine.
