BAGUIO CITY – Authorities intercepted a truckload of burnt carcasses of dogs in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, supposedly bound for local restaurants in Baguio City and La Trinidad, Benguet yesterday.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Heidee Caguioa, program director of Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) said that they were able to arrest the suspect Perry Baybay, a wanted dog meat trader.

She said they were able to trace where the suspect buys his product after weeks of monitoring based on information received by their group.

They recovered 28 heads of burnt dogs and other chopped body parts that were bagged separately and to be delivered in the dog meat serving restaurants of Baguio-Benguet.

The operation was conducted with the help of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and National Meat Inspection Service.

Caguioa said they already buried the confiscated dog meat.

This is part of the continuing campaign of AKF to end dog meat trade. -with report from Bombo Radyo Tuguegarao
