Baguio City- Camp John Hay erased a 14-point deficit in dramatic fashion, firing a closing-flight best 88 for a 366 total to clinch a 14-point triumph in the Fil A Seniors of the 75th Januarius Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament.
Local physician Bayani Tecson saved his best for last, firing a team-high 26 points to anchor the co-host squad’s final charge at the Baguio Country Club course. He drew solid support from Dai Tsuchiya (22), Santiago Enginco (21) and Villamor Bumanglag (19) as CJH overcame an opening-day 84 that placed them only fifth.
Their campaign turned around on Day 2 with a flight-best 113, propelling them to second—just a point behind Baguio Country Club—and setting the stage for their takeover at the shorter but trickier Silverio Golen-designed layout.
Baguio Blue Bloods settled for second after an 80 for a 352 total, behind the efforts of John Marasigan (23), Rudy Lockey (21), Manny Solis (19) and Clyde Cabreros (18).
FODC Team denied an all-Baguio sweep, finishing with 84 for 346 to edge two-day leader BCC, which faded with an 80 after a costly third-round 68. That stumble allowed FODC to pull within four—the same margin BCC ultimately fell short by in the final round.
Euls Austin carded a flight-best 6-over worth 30 points to cap a Moto comeback as the team fired 89 on the final day to secure the Am A Seniors title. Nelson Roa added 26 as Moto amassed 329 over four days and pulled away from The Young Ones, whom they were tied with entering the last round.
The Young Ones finished with 80 to settle for runner-up honors, while Tigermade Maagir turned in a 75 for 307 to place third.
The Golden Razcals matched the day’s best score of 71 to complete a four-day 323—good for a commanding 17-point victory in Fil C Seniors.
Robert Basco led with 22, followed by Bernard Capuyan (20), Apayao Gov. Elias Bulut Jr. (17), and Swanny Dicang (12). Starting nine shots down, the team thrived at BCC, opening with a flight-best 73 to seize control and never look back.
Two-day leader Benlife hung on for second with a 67 and 306 but failed to recover from a disastrous 51 at BCC that cost them a nine-point lead. Waterlympics Pampanga surged from fifth to third after posting another 71 at the short course.
Nughaw Golfers flourished at John Hay, closing with a flight-best 87 for a 319 total to win the Am C Seniors title by 25 points.
Noel Marcellano led with 26, followed by Jimmy Suello (24), Wilfredo Princesa (23) and Gerry Dumawas (14). The squad overcame a rough second round—including a two-point penalty that wiped out their eight-point first-day lead and briefly left them 11 points behind.
Their resurgence began at John Hay, where Marcellano shot a flight-best six-over 30 and the team assembled another flight-best 98 to reclaim the lead heading into the finale—one they protected with authority.
