The National Bureau of Investigation arrested social media personality and Peanut Gallery Media Network (PGMN) founder Franco Mabanta and four others for allegedly trying to extort P350 million from Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez, on May 6, 2026. The suspect allegedly claimed to possess videos implicating Romualdez in the flood control scandal and pressed him to pay P350 million or face the release of the said videos via Peanut Gallery Media Network, which Mabanta founded. The suspect was arrested after receiving P300 million in marked money.
