BUGUIAS, BENGUET — About 15 tons of Chinese cabbage were left to rot in Baculongan Norte, Buguias because of very low prices.
A farmer said harvesting the crops would cost more money for labor and transportation than what they would earn from selling them.
According to the Benguet Agri-Pinoy Trading Center’s price monitoring on April 13, 2026, Chinese cabbage is being sold for only ₱4 to ₱9 per kilo.
Because of this, farmers chose to leave the vegetables in the fields to decompose and turn into fertilizer instead.
