Baguio City- Filipino racing standout Iñigo Anton capped a dominant performance in the final round of the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippines season in Clark, Pampanga, to become the inaugural champion of the Tamaraw One Make Race (OMR), adding another milestone to his growing collection of national racing titles.
The final round presented a grueling test of skill, consistency, and racecraft across three high-stakes races. Anton immediately set the tone by topping the qualifying session to secure pole position for Race 1, which he successfully converted into a commanding victory.
Faced with the challenge of the reverse-grid format for the remaining races, Anton showcased his exceptional adaptability. In Race 2, starting from sixth on the grid, he carved his way through the field to finish a brilliant second. Capping off the weekend in Race 3—a reverse-grid start from fifth—Anton drove a sensational race to storm back to the front and take the checkered flag in first place, solidifying his status as a benchmark for Filipino motorsport talent.
The competition at the front was fierce, highlighting the immense depth of talent in the grid. Oliver Aquino put up a stellar fight throughout the season and championship to claim second place overall. Meanwhile, Raymond Cudala delivered a phenomenal performance, finishing a close third behind Aquino after pushing hard and providing thrilling wheel-to-wheel action on the track alongside Anton.
Reflecting on his historic victory, Anton took to social media to express his profound gratitude to team owner Cosco Oben and the entire Obengers Racing team for their unwavering support throughout his TGR career. He also acknowledged the vital backing of his loyal sponsors—Motul, Infiniteserv International, Yokohama Philippines, Alpinestars, Blue Coffee, AAP (Automobile Association Philippines), and Time Master Watches—whose continued partnership fuels his racing campaigns.
With this latest triumph, Anton adds to an already legendary record—having previously been crowned a two-time TGR Super Sporting champion, and now etching his name in history as the inaugural TGR Tamaraw OMR champion.
At just 22 years old, Anton has now amassed an astonishing 20 national racing titles. Overjoyed with the weekend’s results, he is already setting his sights on what Toyota Gazoo Racing has to offer next year, continuing his relentless pursuit of excellence across local and international circuits to demonstrate his versatility and adaptability across different race cars and racing genres.
