In Abra, two students have proven that love and learning can go hand in hand.
Joyce Camille Barbero Baldemor of Dolores and Mark Allan Bersamin Bolante of San Juan, both graduated as cum laude from the University of Abra. Camille earned her degree in Elementary Education, while Mark completed Agricultural Technology.
But behind their academic success is a story of teamwork, sacrifice, and love that helped them grow—not just as students, but as partners.
They met in college—not in high school or childhood. As second-year students, they got to know each other and eventually became a couple. But instead of losing focus, they became each other’s biggest supporters.
Camille had been an achiever. Mark, on the other hand, had never received academic awards before. Being with Camille motivated him to study harder and believe in himself.
They studied together, worked on school projects, and gave each other strength during tough times. They also faced financial challenges—both come from modest families.
Their fathers work as taxi drivers, while their mothers take care of the home.
To help out, Camille cooked and baked food, while Mark sold them. They worked as a team to earn money for school, knowing they couldn’t solely rely on their parents.
At first, their relationship wasn’t fully accepted by their families. But as they proved they could grow together, their parents gradually came to support them.
Camille and Mark believe that love during school years can work—as long as there’s discipline and respect. They set clear boundaries, gave each other space, and remained focused on their goals.
Their message to other student couples: You need understanding, respect, and time management. Know your limitations—and be willing to help each other.
Now, with medals around their necks and proud smiles on their faces, this couple is ready to take the next step in life. Their story shows that real love—when rooted in responsibility and trust—can help two people become better and reach their dreams.
They hope to find stable jobs soon. For now, marriage isn’t yet in their plans. Their priority is to save money and build their future—together. And as always, they remain each other’s constant source of support.
Camille and Mark are living proof that having a partner in school doesn’t have to be a distraction. In fact, it can be your greatest motivation.
